Two weeks ago, Snow went to the vet. She had been getting thinner, and it was concerning. I suspected thyroid problems because I’ve seen this before. The vet confirmed my suspicions.
Snow had a tumor on her thyroid.
We scheduled surgery for a week later. The vet discovered that Snow actually had tumors on both halves of her thyroid. The largest of these tumors was removed.
Unfortunately, the other tumor had to remain. Within the thyroid gland are the parathyroid glands, and a complete thyroidectomy would result in the loss of necessary parathyroid hormones.
The good news is that with the larger tumor removed and with medications, Snow’s metabolism is already clearly slowing down. This is now a manageable problem.
One week after surgery, snow is well on her way to a full recovery. Already, she’s plumper and obviously happier. We could not be more delighted.
Snow is a champion.
